Stone of Optimism - Striped Flint
Striped Flint, also known as Banded Flint, Polish Flint, Polish Diamond, or the "Stone of Optimism," holds a singular place of origin in our world-nestled in Poland, near the enchanting town of Sandomierz along the Vistula River. These ancient deposits, dating back to the Upper Jurassic Age, are believed to be around 160 million years old. This remarkable flint is a sedimentary rock, composed of microscopic crystals (cryptocrystalline) of the mineral quartz, formed through the precipitation of silica from ancient seawater, manifesting as concretions within limestone.
The legacy of Striped Flint stretches back to the Neolithic Age, the latter part of the Stone Age, when it was skillfully fashioned into axes for farming, hunting, igniting flames, and serving as building materials and protective charms in rituals. These sacred artifacts were often interred with their owners, as symbols of reverence. In Ancient Greece, Striped Flint was cherished for its protective qualities, placed beside beds to ward off nightmares and shield against negative energies. It was also celebrated in healing elixirs for the skin!
